Can I use Visible with a Pacemaker?

Updated over a week ago

The Visible band uses optical heart rate sensing technology and is not generally expected to interfere with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices.

However, we cannot guarantee full compatibility with all implanted devices, and we recommend consulting your doctor or the manufacturer of your implanted device before use.

Will my data be affected?

Optical heart rate monitors - including the Visible band - measure heart rate by detecting blood flow through the skin. As with all devices in this category, individual physiological circumstances may affect readings. For example:

  • If your heart rate is influenced by an implanted device, this will be reflected in Heart Rate readings.

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the variation in time between heartbeats. If that natural variation is influenced by an implanted device, this may affect HRV measurements.

This means that while the Visible band will still collect data, the utility of that data may vary depending on how your implanted device interacts with your heart rhythm.

If you feel anything unusual while using the band, please stop use and speak with your doctor or the manufacturer of your implanted device.

As a reminder, Visible is not a medical device and does not provide medical services such as diagnosis, cure, mitigation, prevention or treatment in relation to any disease or medical condition. It is not a substitute for the advice of a medical professional based on your personal circumstances. You should always consult a doctor before making any medical decisions.
