Getting your Stability Score with a morning reading from your band

Learn how to get your Stability Score by taking a morning reading from your band

Overview

  • This is for you if you have the Polar Verity Sense band or you’re unable to wear your Visible Band 2.0 to bed most nights.

  • Complete your Morning Check-in by taking a morning reading from your band.

  • Visible will use your morning reading to calculate your Stability Score.

  • It’s best to take the readings at the same time each day, while in a comfortable position.

  • You’ll need to stay still for 1 minute during the reading.

If you have Visible Band 2.0, and you're unable to wear your band overnight, make sure your preferences are set up to use morning readings. Find out more about checking or changing your Stability preferences.

To get your Stability Score using morning readings from your band

  1. Put on your band – check it’s connected to the app, has at least 10% battery, is fully synced, and that you have a strong internet connection.

  2. Tap the button on the Today page to rate your sleep.

  3. Your band will switch to HRV mode. Take the 1 minute measurement while staying still and relaxed.

  4. As you stay still, the circle will pulse, and you'll see your progress as a percentage as it measures your HR and HRV.

  5. Get your Stability Score when the measurement is complete.

Tips to get the best morning reading from your band

  • Take the reading as your day starts: Take the reading right after waking up, ideally before getting out of bed. This helps capture your true resting heart rate.

  • Choose a comfortable position: Lying down is often the most reliable position, especially if you're sensitive to changes in posture.

  • Stay still and relaxed: Stay very still throughout your morning reading and remain calm and comfortable.

  • Keep your routine consistent: Do your morning reading at a similar time and in the same position each day. This helps make your readings easier to compare over time.

Whatever your routine looks like, just try to stick to it as best you can. It's still valuable to do your Morning check-in whenever and however you can.

How does taking readings from the band work?

Visible Band 2.0 and Polar Verity Sense both use an optical heart rate sensor to measure your heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV).

When wearing your band, the sensor shines light into your skin and detects changes in the reflected light as blood flows through the capillaries.

Are morning measurements taken with a band reliable?

Measuring your heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) in the morning is a reliable alternative to track changes in your body's signals over time.

Taking your morning reading before getting out of bed means you get as close to a resting HR as possible. HRV is also a particularly sensitive metric, so it's important to measure it in a calm, repeatable environment each day.

What can I do if my band won't switch to HRV mode?

If your band is failing to switch to HRV mode and is unable to start your Stability Score reading, try this quick troubleshooting:

  1. Start the reading on a strong and stable internet connection. If you're using a WiFi connection, try switching to mobile data or vice versa to see if that helps.

  2. Check your battery level. If you have less than 10% charge left on your battery, recharge your band before trying again.

  3. Disconnect and reconnect your band in the Visible app. This helps refresh the connection between the band and the app.

What can I do if my Stability Score reading gets stuck at 95%?

If your Stability Score stops at about 95% and fails to complete, it can indicate an issue with your internet connection or that there was too much movement during the reading. Always start the reading on a strong and stable internet connection. If you're using a WiFi connection, try switching to mobile data or vice versa to see if that helps.

Can I retake my Stability Score if needed?

Yes, you can retake your Stability Score for today when using morning measurements. To get a new score, simply delete your morning reading and take a new one.

Before you delete a reading, it's important to know:

  • You can only redo your score for the current day. Past morning readings can not be retaken.

  • Once a morning reading is deleted, it cannot be restored.

  • Deleted scores are still included in your 90-day baseline.

  • Retakes should be reserved for special situations, such as if you were disturbed, moved around too much, or made a mistake during the check-in.

To redo your Stability Score for today:

  1. Open the app and tap Stability on the Today page.

  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.

  3. Select Delete reading.

  4. You’ll now be able to complete the Morning Check-in again.

Do I still need to use the camera for my Morning Check-in once I have a band?

No. Once your band is linked to the Visible app, the Morning Check-in will automatically use the band to read your body’s biometrics each morning. You will no longer be able to use your finger for the Morning Check-in.
