What the Monthly Check-in asks you

The sections the check-in covers, and why each one is there

The Monthly Check-in is split into sections. Two of the sections are optional.

The Monthly Check-in uses standardized questions

The questions are asked in the same way for every Visible member. They use format called PROMIS, which is a set of questions used widely in healthcare and research.

Questions are scored in a standard way. The standard wording is what helps a clinician understand your summary, and compare it with a wider population.

Some questions may not match your situation exactly. Answer each question as it applies to you. There are no right or wrong answers.

Fatigue: 6 questions about your physical energy levels

These ask how fatigued and run-down you've felt over the past 7 days. They also ask how much your fatigue got in the way of everyday physical activity.

Your clinician may refer to these as Physical Function.

If a question doesn't apply to you, give the answer that's truest for your situation.

Symptom delay: 3 optional questions about the effect of activity

This section is optional.

These questions are not part of the standard PROMIS questionnaire. While PROMIS doesn't ask about delayed symptoms (often called post exertional malaise, or PEM), we believe this is important to track over time.

Thinking about the past month, these questions ask how long you can spend on physically, mentally or emotionally demanding activity before you feel significantly worse the next day.

Symptom delay

Over the last month, how long can you engage in physical activity, before you feel significantly worse the next day?
Not at all / An hour or less / A few hours / Half a day / Most of a day / A full day / No worsening

Over the last month, how long can you engage in focused mental activity, before you feel significantly worse the next day?

Pain interference: 1 optional question about pain

This section is optional.

The Pain interference question asks:

How much did pain interfere with your day to day activities?
Not at all / A little bit / Somewhat / Quite a bit / Very much

At 3, 6 and 12 months, we ask about your progress

At 3, 6 and 12 months after you set up your Visible account, the check-in opens with 1 extra question. It asks how your overall status has changed since you started using Visible.

Your answer helps us understand whether Visible is helping people. It doesn't change your other results.

Other things going on can affect your answers

Some of these questions ask about a set period, usually the past 7 days or the past month. An infection, a new medication, or where you are in your cycle can all shape how you answer.

Your summary shows the Evening Check-in trackers you logged over the same period, so you can look back and see what else was happening that month.

Answer from your own experience

It is OK to have someone read the questions to you. What matters is that the answers are about how you feel, not how someone else thinks you are doing.

Answering the same way each month keeps your results comparable.

The check-in isn't a medical assessment

The check-in is designed to help you understand your health and what affects it. It isn't designed for medical diagnosis, treatment, cure, or disease prevention. Check with a health provider before making any medical decisions.
