How do I know that my PacePoints budget is right for me?
Your PacePoints budget should help you stay active throughout the day without triggering symptoms or causing a crash. A good budget supports pacing your day, every day.
Some signs your PacePoints budget might need adjusting:
Your budget is too low: You're using more PacePoints each day than your budget allows, but your activities aren't making your symptoms worse or triggering a crash.
Your budget is too high: You stay well below your budget, using only some of your budgeted PacePoints, but still experience a crash or worsening symptoms.
If your current PacePoints budget isn't helping you pace your day, try these steps:
Always start by making sure that your Heart Rate Zones match how you feel.
Figure out how many PacePoints it takes for your symptoms to worsen or a crash to occur. You might not know the exact number yet, and that’s okay — it can take a few tries.
Set your budget just below that threshold.
It can take time to find the right budget, so don’t worry if you need to adjust it more than once.
How do Heart Rate Zones affect PacePoints?
You earn PacePoints based on how much time you spend in each Heart Rate Zone. So adjusting your zones will affect how quickly you use your PacePoints budget. And if your zones aren’t accurate, your notifications and graphs won’t reflect how you use energy—or how you actually feel.
So when reviewing PacePoints, it’s best to first make sure your Heart Rate Zones are working well for you.

When should I change my PacePoints budget?
Like Heart Rate Zones, you shouldn't need to change your PacePoints budget unless there's been a significant change in your life. Examples of this include:
You've started or stopped a long-term medication that may impact your heart rate.
A significant, long-term change to your illness which has caused a definite increase or decrease to your heart rate.
Your points budget doesn't feel right:
You are using significantly more points without a worsening of symptoms
You are using way fewer than your budget but feeling a worsening of symptoms
You have changed your Heart Rate Zones, which has changed how many points you use each day, without a change in activity.
Because PacePoints generate based on your Heart Rate Zones, you should always adjust your Heart Rate Zones first, then your PacePoints budget. Both can take some time before you find what works best for you.
We don't recommend changing your PacePoint budget too regularly. The goal is to find a stable amount of activity you can do each day that won't worsen your symptoms.
Keeping your budget consistent will help you gain better insights into how effectively you're pacing and help you balance your exertion levels throughout the day.
