Overview
Your band is water resistant to 30m - safe for showers, swimming, and everyday use.
Clean the band and strap regularly to keep your skin comfortable and your readings accurate.
Keep the heart rate sensor and charging contacts clean and dry before charging.
Store your band safely when you’re not wearing it.
Why cleaning matters
Your band sits against your skin all day. Sweat, lotion, and dirt can build up on both the band and the strap over time. This can cause skin irritation and affect how well the heart rate sensor reads your data. A quick clean a few times a week keeps things running well.
How to clean your band
Clean your band and strap at least twice a week, or after any activity that makes you sweat.
What you’ll need:
Lukewarm water
Mild soap (like hand soap or dish soap)
Steps:
Rinse your band and strap under lukewarm running water.
Apply a small amount of mild soap and gently rub the band, strap, and sensor area.
Rinse thoroughly until all soap is gone.
Pat dry with a soft cloth. Then hang or lay the strap flat and allow everything to dry fully before wearing again.
What to avoid:
Alcohol, bleach, or disinfectant wipes - these can damage the materials.
Sharp tools or abrasive cloths near the sensor.
Putting the band away or charging it while still wet.
Many members purchase additional straps in the Visible Shop so that they can wear one while the other one dries. You can purchase this in the Profile section of the app.
Water resistance
Your Visible Band is water resistant up to 30m. That means it can handle:
Showers and baths
Swimming in a pool or the sea
Sweat and rain
After swimming, rinse your band and strap with fresh water. This removes chlorine and salt, which can degrade the materials over time if left on.
Caring for the strap
The strap is made from woven fabric. It stays comfortable and lasts longer with a little regular attention.
Rinse it after swimming or heavy sweating to prevent salt and chlorine buildup.
When drying, hang the strap up or lay it flat - don’t fold it while damp.
Check the hook-and-loop fasteners now and then. If they pick up fluff or debris, gently pick it out to keep the fit snug.
Avoid leaving the strap in direct sunlight for long periods - this can fade the material over time.
If the strap starts to smell, a longer soak in mild soapy water (a few minutes) followed by a thorough rinse usually fixes it.
Keeping the heart rate sensor clean
The heart rate sensor is on the underside of the band. Keeping it clean helps Visible track your heart rate accurately throughout the day.
Rinse the sensor area after sweaty activities.
You might want to use a small cleaning brush to clean out the grooves on the sensor, as these can collect dirt and skin cells over time.
Avoid applying lotion or sunscreen directly under where the band sits. If any gets on the sensor, rinse it off with mild soap and water.
Check that the sensor lens is scratch-free. Scratches can reduce accuracy over time.
Cleaning the charging contacts
The charging pins need to stay clean for your band to charge reliably.
Before charging, check the pins for dirt or moisture.
Gently wipe with a dry, soft cloth if needed.
Don’t charge your band while it’s wet.
How to prevent skin irritation
Wearing any device all day can cause irritation. Here are some tips to help prevent this:
Move the band around regularly - it can be worn on the upper forearm as well as the upper arm with a dedicated arm strap.
Make sure that the sensor itself is clean. Sometimes irritants (for example, soap) can sit on the sensor and, as it rubs against the skin, could irritate.
Make sure that if you get the sensor wet, it is fully dry afterwards.
Wash the band strap with gentle soap and water to clear any buildup of dirt/oil.
If you continue to experience problems with skin irritation, please reach out to Member Support who can provide further guidance.
Storing your band
If you’re not going to wear your band for a while:
Make sure it’s fully dry before storing.
Keep it in a cool, dry place - not in a sealed plastic bag, a damp gym bag, or anywhere non-breathable.
Don’t leave it in direct sunlight or a hot car for long periods. Extreme heat (above 120°F / 50°C) or cold (below 14°F / –10°C) can damage the battery and materials.
