When pacing, it’s helpful to understand how much energy different activities take up.

Activity Insights helps you compare between activities in two ways:

  • Impact: this shows the total amount of energy used by activities, measured in overall PacePoints.

  • Intensity: this shows the rate at which energy is used during activities, measured in PacePoints per hour.

Each of these metrics helps you understand where you're spending your energy, and whether that is changing over time. This can help with planning and prioritizing between activities, to help you stay within your PacePoints budget.

How is impact calculated?

Impact shows the total amount of energy used by activities, measured in PacePoints.

Your activities are split into three groups: higher, medium, and lower impact. This is in reference to your current PacePoints budget. The more of your budget that an activity takes up, the higher its impact:

Impact level

% of current PacePoints Budget

Higher impact

More than 30%

Medium impact

15-30%

Lower impact

Less than 15%

If you change your PacePoints budget, the impact of your activities may change. For example, if you increase your budget, activities that were previously "higher impact" might become "medium impact". This can help you to understand how much capacity you have to do certain activities as your energy envelope changes.

How is intensity calculated?

Intensity shows the rate at which energy is used during activities, measured in PacePoints per hour.

Your activities are split into three groups: higher, medium, and lower intensity. This is in reference to your current PacePoints budget and a fixed time period (in this case, 8 hours). If continuing an activity for 8 hours would put you over budget, then that activity is classed as higher intensity:

Intensity level

If completed for

% of current PacePoints Budget

Higher intensity

8 hours

More than 100%

Medium intensity

8 hours

More than 50%

Lower intensity

8 hours

Less than 50%

If you change your PacePoints budget, the intensity of your activities may change. For example, if you increase your budget, activities that were previously "higher intensity" might become "medium intensity". This can help you to understand how much capacity you have to do certain activities as your energy envelope changes.

Comparing between activities

You can use the time period selector to look at your activities from the last 7 days, 30 days, or since you started using Visible. This can help you see whether the activities' impact has changed over time.

To compare between activities of the same type, simply tap that activity from the Activity Insights page.

Editing activity tags

If you have multiple tags for similar activities, e.g. “Showering”, “Shower” and “Shower + dry”, it can sometimes be helpful to combine these to get more valuable insights.

You can edit your activity tags by selecting your tag in Activity Insights and tapping “Edit” to keep things neat.

Making the most of your insights

The more consistently you tag your activities, the more valuable your insights are. By tagging things you do more frequently (such as “showering” or “walking the dog”), you’ll be able to spot patterns more easily over time.

For more information on how to tag your activities, see here.
