The Monthly Check-in switched from FUNCAP27 to PROMIS questions in app version 26.10.1, released in October 2026.
Functional Capacity was the questionnaire the Monthly Check-in used to measure how your health affected your daily life. It used a set of questions called FUNCAP27.
The Monthly Check-in now uses PROMIS measures instead. These questions are:
shorter and easier to complete
designed to track change over time
applicable for a broader range of conditions
able to capture both what you do and how you feel
If you completed the Functional Capacity at least once before, you can still view your past results. You can also choose to complete a new questionnaire if needed. This article explains how to read your results.
Find past results on your Profile page
Follow these steps to see your Functional Capacity results:
Open the Visible app and go to your Profile page.
Tap Monthly Check-in.

Tap any date to open that survey's results.
What the Functional Capacity survey measures
Functional capacity is your ability to do the things that are necessary or meaningful in your daily life. Tracking symptoms records how you feel. Functional Capacity records what you are able to do.
FUNCAP27 asks 27 questions across eight categories:
personal hygiene
walking
being upright
home activities
communication
outside activities
reactions to light and sound
concentration
How to read past scores
For each item, you rated the impact of doing it on a scale of 0 to 6:
Score | What it meant |
0 | I cannot do this |
1 | My capacity will be severely reduced for at least three days |
2 | I can do little else on the same day and for one to two days afterward |
3 | I can do little else on the same day |
4 | I must limit other activities on the same day |
5 | This rarely affects other activities |
6 | Unproblematic, does not affect other activities |
Your overall score is the average of those answers, so it also runs from 0 to 6.
A score between 5.8 and 6 is typical for someone living without a long-term health condition or disability. Lower scores reflect reduced functional capacity. A score of 1.8, for example, suggests a severe reduction.
You can continue to complete Functional Capacity questionnaires if you wish to
The updated Monthly Check-in no longer uses the Functional Capacity questionnaire, but you can continue to measure your Functional Capacity if you wish to.
Follow these steps to take a new Functional Capacity questionnaire:
Open the Visible app and go to your Profile page.
Tap Monthly Check-in.
Tap Functional Capacity under Other questionnaires
Tap Functional Capacity
Your Functional Capacity score doesn't convert into a Monthly Check-in summary
Functional Capacity gives you one score out of six. The updated Monthly Check-in gives you a separate score for each section. Each score reflects different areas of your health.
There's no way to convert a Functional Capacity score into the updated Monthly Check-in scores. A score of 4.5 doesn't become a Mild or a Moderate on the Fatigue or Movement sections, for example.
Your Functional Capacity results are worth keeping as a record of that period. They aren't a starting point that your newer results continue from.
